Cannot access my linux machine when i type the hostname instead of ip address


Recently i changed the ip address of a linux machine which through samba from my windows machine i used to access by typing the hostname. After the change of ip address i cannot access it by its hostname. Can anyone help?

Your Linux machine's name to IP mapping will either be in C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts , or in DNS.

If it's not in the hosts file you'll have to find out who manages the DNS server, and get them to change the entry.
