Can see my new WiFi but can't conncet?

I recently change Internet providers from Time Warner (now Spectrum) to AT&T, and changed my WiFi names. Linux computer was direct wired to router Linksys EA6350. Now computer is wired Ethernet to router. Can see WiFi but cannot connect ??? What do I need to do?

What linux distribution/version are you running?

Have you ever successfully connected the computer to a wireless network using linux?

What utility etc. are you using to "see" your new WiFi? If it is wicd or NetworkManager you should be able to connect to the router and type in your WPA passphrase.

You need to clarify your setup as ethernet and wifi are not the same thing.

Ethernet should be "plug'n'play".

What happens when you try to connect to wifi? What error messages do you get? What have you tried so far?

Why are you trying to connect to the wifi when you're plugged into the ethernet? When you say it "cannot connect", what do you mean? Can you see the SSID? Can you enter the passphrase? What does it say?

What is the make/model of the computer and what is the wireless chipset?

(This post will give you some diagnostic tools for answering the latter question.)

Have you ever successfully connected the computer to a wireless network using linux? NO, for over a year Ethernet hard wired from modem to computer.
Went from Time Warner to ATT fiber, but modem is NOW 20 ft away from computer and router. In "Time Warner days" modem and router were sitting ON TOP of PC case ! Now only router is "on top" of case and Ethernet cable goes from PC Ethernet to Linksys EA6350 to Internet port on router.

What utility etc. are you using to "see" your new WiFi? If it is wicd or NetworkManager you should be able to connect to the router and type in your WPA passphrase.
I am trying to use Linux Networking in Systems Setting but can't connect to printer or router. I am really have not had to ever change change wifi or hard wired setting since I changed Operating system from Windows XP to Linux, everything just took off and ran, thank goodness !!

The standard maximum length for a wired ethernet connection is 100 meters, so 20 feet is well within range.

Have you tried reseating the cable jacks or replacing the cable with another known-good cable? It's probably not the cable, but it's easy to test and, if it is the cable, mucking about in software won't do any good.

Beyond that, in order to offer suggestions to you, specific data is required. It would help to know the output of the following commands:

Code:
# cat /etc/*release*
# lspci | grep net
# ip addr (or ifconfig -a)
# ping google.com
# ping 8.8.8.8 <---that's Google. I arbitrarily picked it because it's always up.
# traceroute 8.8.8.8
You can consult the man page (man [command name]) in the terminal to learn more about each one. Depending on the distro, you may have to run some of the commands as root.

Post the output of those commands here, being sure to surround it with "code" tags, which become available when you click the "Go Advanced" button at the bottom of the "compose post" window.
