Can't resolve hosts at work

I have Googled a lot, and I am sorry if this question has been asked before, but I can't figure out which solution to choose for my problem.

The thing is, I am using my laptop both at home and at work. When I am at work I can't resolve any servers on the network. I get 'host unknown'. Resolving servers outside the network works fine - for example, I can ping google.com.
I tried to add my company's dns server in /etc/resolv.conf, but it is of cause overwritten when I reboot (I use networkmanager).

/etc/resolv.conf only contains two lines:
Code:
search companyname.dk
nameserver 127.0.0.1
I also have another resolv file: /etc/resolv.conf.predhclient which contains nameservers for my network at home. It contains both our dns servers and it works fine.... so why don't networkmanger add nameservers to resolv.conf? And how can I fix it?

Do you have a real DNS server at work? Windows doesn't really *need* DNS to function - it can fake a lot with broadcasting (a problem in itself), but *nix does need DNS unless you want to memorize IP addresses.

Well.. I asked the administrator for the ip's of our nameservers, and he replied with 2 addresses... so I guess the answer is yes.. Also when I run 'netstat' i get 3 nameservers.

Your network administrator should have DHCP issue the DNS address with the IP lease which is the normal thing to do. In case he/she doesn't do this then you need to add the DNS address to /etc/resolv.conf everytime you go to your work.
