Can't ping Linux box from Windows machine, and other networking oddities on Mandriva
I'm new to Linux and LinuxQuestions has really helped out alot. But I've looked everwhere for an answer to this problem.
I can't ping, telnet, or vnc into my Linux machine from Windows, but I can ping and vnc into Windows from Linux. I have tried both host name and IP address, neither work so I know it's not a DNS/hostname file issue.
Is there some firewall software/setting that is blocking all incoming connections?
Another thing, not too important, is that it takes a while to start loading some website but not others, "Looking up...". For Example, this site takes a long time, but when I ping it, it resolves the IP address pretty fast. Could just be Firefox. Not a big deal.
So yea, so far that's it. Any thoughts?
