Hi, i am new to linux and want to setup my internet configurations to access the internet.
i am using the broadband connection with a cabel modem.
is any one will please help me.

How is the modem connected? If it's via Ethernet then the chances are that it will just work, if it's via USB then it might be a bit harder. It would be helpful to know the make and model of the cable modem you're using (and possibly your ISP, etc.).
You need to make sure you have already activated your modem with Nthell, registration is not possible via Linux.
Have a look for something like below to configure your inet connection, leave it on DHCP
Desktop -> System Settings -> Network
Network Configuration

You would be better off using the ethernet (network card) instead of usb, you may even find the internet connection is already configured and activated (if you've already activated the modem).
