C programming

i wanna make a small c program in linux to capture and store the packets received by my network adapter.

where can i find the packets? as far as i know, there must be a device file corresponding to the netwk adapter. there's even a program that does that in linux. where is it and how do i see its source code?

thanx:)

AFAIK, net devices like eth0 and loop donot have any device files. Have you checked out ethereal and tcpdump?? Both the programs can dump network packets.
