Hi, I'm planning to build an internet hotspot. The rules for users are :
1. they connect to the wireless network
2. If they try to access any site, they'll be redirected to a login page
3. After they login (I prefer a server app that can fetch username and password from my win LDAP server)
4. after several minute of browsing, users have to re-login.
What application should I use to allow users authenticate via web to gain internet access?
Squid proxy should take care of Numbers 1 through 3. I've never tried to put a time limit on users surfing to have them re-login. Its probably possible.
A word of warning. Log everything the users do, cause if they hack sites from your IP address, your the resposible one that the lawyers will go after. Its a real easy way to put a coffee shop out of business when they allow free access without restrictions.
