BIND9 and "lame server" log entries??
Lately I have been seeing a few entries in my "messages" log from "named" about lame servers... Since I couldn't find any information regarding it, I thought to ask here.
A typical log entry:
Jul 2 00:00:06 xxxxxxxx named[21481]: lame server resolving 'xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com' (in 'xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.COM'?): xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx#53
(i x'd out the actual server name and ip etc)
Thing is, my bind dns servers don't HOST that name. So why is it complaining?
Some things to note: BIND9 is setup to be a authoritative host for many domains we own, and it is not a 'public cache'. It only keeps in memory whatever the systems linked to it use. So like PHP scripts, apache, sendmail etc. This is on a RH7.3 server, and also occurs on the secondary YDL2.1 server (secondary is such a loose term, since they BOTH run in perfect syncronization and neither is designated as primary or secondary in the true sense of zone xfer).
Anyhow... any ideas on this lame server stuff?
