BIND: Add DynDNS host to internal DNS

I'm hoping someone can provide an answer to this question.

I currently have BIND set up to provide caching and forwarding as well as dynamic DNS for all my internal hosts.

I also have a DynDNS hostname (I don't need or want a domain right now) pointing to the same server so I can access various services when I'm out of the house.

What I would like to do is add my public (DynDNS) hostname to my internal DNS so the IP address is resolved internally rather than externally when I'm at home.

I have a fairly good idea how I would do this if I had my own domain but I'm not sure how to add just a single host from someone else's domain without borking look ups for the rest of the domain.

Just to be clear, I'm looking for a solution that doesn't involve substituting BIND for a different DNS server (Dnsmasq or whatever).

Thanks.

You create a zone file where the domain name is the hostname in question. Then you create a default address record pointing to the desired IP address. So you don't really create a record for a single host, you pretend the host is a subdomain.

Example: You want somehost.dyndns.org to resolve to 192.168.5.6 internally, so you create a zone file for the imaginary domain "somehost.dyndns.org" with a default A record (the record name should be either blank or "@") pointing to 192.168.5.6. You then add that domain to named.conf.
