bandwidth prob.

hi there

i have discovered that if i send file to someone so use up my upload bandwidth,
i can't download anything faster then 1-2k on 384/64 ADSL on linux
which is embarrassing since i remember being able to send and receive files without any problems
what happened since? i chaged to integrated lan device, so i thought it would be linux-driver error, since on windows everything works just fine!!

i installed my old pci-lan ... blah blah ... but it is still goddamn slow if i upload with max. capability

i read about that wondershaper, however it is a bit complicated [the part of installing iproute2] (oh god.. newbie )
and since i know i can produce more than 1-2k download without any shaper-maper

i am just curious if you have any idea what could cause that problem?

thanks a lot

angel

Sounds like your cards is operating at half-duplex.

use the command
Code:
 mii-tool eth0
And see what that reports.
It'll give you the speed, and duplex mode.
You may need to be su or root.

Code:
# mii-tool eth1
eth1: autonegotiation failed, link ok
however i changed some module parameters with modprobe so the card should work full-duplex. its annoying.

thanks anyway
