Automount smb-share: delay in mount-process

Hi,

I am trying to mount a smb-share via automount.
As the smb-share is located in a different network,
a vpn-connection needs to be established first, in
order to access the share. this is done automatically,
directly by the firewall and takes only 1-3 secs, but
still this delay seems to be too long for automount:
automount hangs infinite and the share can never
be accessed.

optionally I can also mount the share as nfs-drive,
but there's the same delay issue with automount.

it works ok, if the share is mounted by hand, an
entry in fstab is no option, as if the vpn-connection
comes down once, the mount-point can't be accessed
any more and the share must be remounted.

any ideas?

Thanks a lot!

Toby

Use your own script. We did that several times.

How ?

Just add a job to the cron where you check if the drive is mounted. If not, execute the mount. Run that job every 5 or 10 Minutes.
That is how we solved that problem.
