Rep:
According to the dhclient(8) man page, the -V option sets the vendor-class-identifier.
According to the dhcpcd(8) man page, the -i option sets the vendorClassID "dhcpcd uses the default vendor class identifier string (system name, system release, and machine type) if it is not specified."
So, it appears that you can manually set the vendor class ID to your site requirements.
This article describes how to set the vendor class ID for Windows 2000 DHCP server, but it may also apply to 2003:
thanks but this article don't show me the specific vendor id for linux system.creating a class and set that is easy but vendor class id is specific name that match for that systems.
of course,if i want to use user class id i can do this with any name but for vendor class i must use the specific name that windows server detect any linux systems with that.i want that name.
for example the word "Sun" works fine for sun systems(in verndor class id) but "Linux" isn't work...
any idea?
