Hi Ladies & Gents,
I am on my NIS server, try to reset a user's PW, it errors out with the following error message:

```[root@usnee1-lph001-x001 etc]# yppasswd i0386819
Changing NIS account information for i0386819 on usnee1-lph001-x001.
Please enter root password:
Changing NIS password for i0386819 on usnee1-lph001-x001.
Please enter new password:
Please retype new password:
Error while changing the NIS password.
`The NIS password has not been changed on usnee1-lph001-x001.`

[root@usnee1-lph001-x001 etc]#```

Just a guess: The new password doesn’t comply with requirements such as length, numbers, case,etc.

@scasey, another SysAdmin fixed the problem. I have no idea what he did, but your guess is a good one. Too bad I didn't get a chance to try it out.

I ran into that problem when I upgraded to CentOS 7. I copied over the passwd file from my CentOS 5 server, and everything worked fine, but when I went to change a password, I couldn't. Turned out the new server had a minimum length requirement of 9, and I was trying to set a password that was only 8 characters. Like to drove me crazy...
