Thumbs down Apache/SSH on linux is slow....

My apache/SSH setup on linux is going bleedingly slow for some reason, on my windows box I was able to get much faster speeds when I was running on that. I set up my linux box in the hopes that it might be a faster, more reliable, etc. I don't know if its a problem with my network card since I get downloads in the mid 300 kbps range which is normal. Does anyone know why this might be? (if you need more info on my setup I can give that too)

Maybe your ISP limits your upload speed perhaps? What kind of connection are you on?

Red face ssh2 slow on Fedora core2

for some reason, my SSH2 login data transfer is extremely slow when I am using my VNC Viewer under Linux FC-2.
I am running the following PERL command :
system( "sudo $ssh -2 -X -c blowfish -l John -L $local_vnc_port:$vnchost:$remote_vnc_port $sshhost");
and I am defining these variables before running this command.

I have a dual boot WinXP + Linux FC-2 system and the WinXP partition with Putty (as SSH) gives me a much faster connection to my office network as compared to when using Linux FC-2.

Anyone had this problem before. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Will have to switch back to WinXP for now due to this slow speed issue.

Thanks
