Question Apache LAN IP resolution problem

Hi guys, this is my first post and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.

I have apache installed on a machine which sits on a small LAN. Once apache is running, testing from the web server itself is no problem. All user directories etc show up properly. When I move to a different machine on the LAN and point it the IP of the web server, it works fine. From the different machine I then append /~username to get to the public_html directories and an odd thing happens, the IP in the location bar of the browser switches from the IP of the web server (10.0.0.6) to a localhost IP (127.0.0.1). I then get an error message in the browser saying that the connection was refused because obviously the localhost isn't running a web server. I'm fairly sure I have got something incorrect in either my /etc/hosts.conf or httpd.conf files, but I'm not certain. Has anyone experienced anything like this before?

Cheers

Phil

You might change the hostname in the apache config. Also you can type "hostname" in the terminal and switch the hostname. I hope that fixes the problem.
