I am sure Linux probably does not support AOL or MSN Instant Messenger...but is there an Instant Messenger program that you can run with Linux and still be able to talk to your friends who use those programs?
you obviously don't hold linux with much regard! why can't it do msn? i use gaim with yahoo, icq and msn plugins, and it works perfectly. there are also many other chat clients like imici, everybuddy and a number of jabber based IM's like Gabber and Psi that let you sue which ever protocol you want.
anyways thanks for the post now i shall try to use those other IM clienst you mentioned... also yahoo messenger has an IM for Linux? i will be sure to try it out
Originally posted by Chijtska I noticed that some of the features for ymessenger are diferent than its Windows counterpart...any reason maybe why?
mostly the reason would be that the version for linux is not at the same level as the version for Windows.
As ymessenger is a yahoo product, and I do not think it is free or open source, the only way that it will be brought current is if there are demands into Yahoo to makd the software current.
The GAIM client noted earlier may provide a better feature set however, so take a look at that.
that made good sense... yahoo messenger no doubt is not open source....
one of the features of yahoo messenger with windows is the fact that you can access chat rooms with it... a feature that is sorely missing in the linux version... still i will give gaim a try...
