Adsl problems Suse 9.0

Hello.

I installed Suse V9.0 on an acer 1705SCI laptop. I have ADSL service in Belgium and works perfectly with Windows XP. I have Sis 900-Based PCI Fast Internet Adapter. Thomson 510 ethernet gateway connects the adsl to the pc. Suse detected the ethernet card.

The Manual suggests fixed dummy ip address. I tried both dummy ip add. and also dhcp. The result is always the same: "transmit timed out". When I check the /etc/resolv.conf it correctly shows the IP addresses of my ISP.
When I ping an IP address, at least it sends packages. When I ping a name, freezes. Doesnt work both cases.

What am I doing wrong? I tried rp-pppoe of Roaring penguin, adsl-setup could NOT detect the ethernet interface. The result with adsl-start is exactly the same.

Please help.

Thanks and regards,
Zuheyr Alsalihi
