I use a kernel driver with an ADSL modem (pppoa). I followed these instructions to get it working:
http://www.linux-usb.org/SpeedTouch/...ke/index.html.
However, when the modem comes up, the MTU is very high ... 32725.
Changing it to 1500 with "ifconfig" seems to make the connection unstable. Adding "mtu 1500" to the peers file called by "pppd call (whatever_file)" has no effect ... pppd reports "Cannot set mtu to 32725" ... but it does.
Moreover, this problem has a knock on effect on a connection sharing Windows XP machine ... it can no longer share the internet connection. (It could share the connection when I used user-space drivers with an earlier kernel ... I couldn't get those drivers working with this kernel). It doesn't matter if I set MTU to 1500 with ifconfig ... the connection isn't shared.
Help appreciated!
