About Apache Logs

Hi All,

This morning i was just checking the apache logs and just came across some of the logs which had strange strings i have never heard of. This is what the line is

61.19.74.2 - - [24/May/2005:00:00:52 -0700] "GET /404_IGNORE_THIS_REQUEST.html HTTP/1.1" 404 7036 "http://sitename/path/to/the/file.html" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1)"

There are several lines with the GET /404_IGNORE_THIS_REQUEST.html string. I am just confused and couldnt find any answer in google. Can you please explain me what it means or what actually happened...

Thanking you in advance,
SiLiCoN

Hi,

Your web server received a request from 61.19.74.2 to show (get) this /404_IGNORE_THIS_REQUEST.html page. Requesting client info: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1)

Your server responded with a 404 error (page not found).

I've seen these kind of messages before, nothing to worry about. Unless you have html, php,cgi etc pages/code that's not written/secured correctly.

Hope this helps.
