407 Proxy Authentication Required

I'm using Ubuntu (LAMP server) here at work. We are trying to get some compilers.

This is the error that I get when I try to do: apt-get install build-essential or try to install anything using apt-get.

407 Proxy Authentication Required ( The

so you need to authenticate against your proxy right? just export the http_proxy variable including these details and i guess you'll be ok.

Code:

export http_proxy=user:pass@server:port

. note you've not actually asked a question there....

I ran: apt-get install build-essential, again and now I get:

Could no resolve 'RGuisbert@10.0.3.4'

Does this means I have entered the wrong user name/password or something else?
