i have a win 98 box running winproxy4 and i also have a redhat box running squid. the win 98 box has been acting as my proxy server and i am trying to configure my redhat box to take over these duties. when i configure workstations to look at the redhat box and the the redhat box to look at the win 98 box it works just fine. looks like this:
---workstation-----redhat box----win 98 box---firewall---internet
this works. but when i take the win98 box out of the mix and add a second nic to the redhat box things stop working.
--workstation--1st nic---2 nic---firewall---internet
this does not work.
i wonder if it is a dns problem. the win98 box is currently working as my dns server but i set up the 2 nic to look at my isp's dns server.
seems hard to understand i know i am totally lost. by the way if you could not tell i am very green when it comes to linux. can you please help?
many thanks to you for your help.
Was win98-box was a proxy only, without routing? Is you 2 nic a router only, without cach? In this case you must check the routing tables on the both nic's first of all, I suppose.
