2.6 test 9 and /dev/modem

I've compiled a kernel for test9 of 2.6 kernel, and I have most everything working, except I'm just not able to get pppd to connect. I get an error saying /dev/modem does not exist. It does exist and I am running as root, so I don't know what is going on. I compiled ppp as modules.
I can remove and recreate the symbolic link /dev/modem -> /dev/ttyS0, but it still doesn't work. Now, obviously there is nothing wrong with the link and device because it works with my 2.4 kernel.

Anyone have any idea?

I beleive you need the Unix98 enabled, and /dev/tty compatibility.
They are in the Character Devices, and the Filesystems - Virtual Filesystems sections respectivily.
I tend to check all of the virtual ones. It's usually a good idea for future compatibility.

Hi,
I have Unix98 selected, but I can't find /dev/tty anywhere. (I also don't see Virtual Filesystems) ??

Sorry about that..
It's supposed to be in
Filesystems -> Pseudo Filesystems
/dev/pts option
Don't bother with the extended one.
