'named' problems on boot and shutdown
'named' is giving me some odd problems. Sometimes when I shutdown, the computer stalls halfway through when trying to send 'named' the TERM signal. It then can't finish shutting down. Investigating 'etc/log/messages', I noticed the following reported during most bootups:
Jun 19 13:55:02 localhost named[1412]: loading configuration from '/etc/named.conf'
Jun 19 13:55:02 localhost named[1412]: ifiter_ioctl.c:236: REQUIRE(iter->pos < (unsigned int) iter->ifc.ifc_len) failed
and then:
Jun 19 14:01:23 localhost named[2675]: listening on IPv4 interface lo, 127.0.0.1#53
Jun 19 14:01:23 localhost kernel: process `named' is using obsolete setsockopt SO_BSDCOMPAT
Can anyone help? I'm using Mandrake 10CE, with a 2.6 kernel (this error happened on both 2.6.3-4mdk, and the new 2.6.3-13mdk). I do use a personal firewall (firestarter), but it does not start on bootup. My internet connection (which, by the way, works fine even with the above) is dial-up, and does not connect on boot up.
Thanks,
Amir
