For folks using the Verizon Android phones you can tether the bugger an connect your computer to the web.
My wife has a sys76 Pang and has had some problems connecting in some parts of Montana to the wifi networks like at motels and so forth. Has had no problems with her phone service.
I do not like to mess with her box too much as it works just as she likes.
Researched the problem and ran into Easy Tether;

This is a paid program. There is a free trial version that they recommend trying first to make sure it works.
Claims to support Windows 7/Vista/XP (32-bit and 64-bit), Mac OS X 10.6/10.5/10.4, Ubuntu 10.4+ and Fedora 13+.
The wife is on Ubuntu 10.04, I am on Debian testing with the liquorix kernel. 10.04 runs 2.6.32, Debian testing is still running that and so is Squeeze. I am running 2.6.38. Have not tried this on her box yet, will in a bit, but I have no doubt that it will work as well as it is here.
We will all be able to tell if it works for this as that is my connection right now.
