I just discovered that video does not work on the Nexus 5 running Ubuntu Touch. So, I'm giving up on it. I think I will try Sailfish, which I think is MeeGo continued. [edit] Nope, seems it's not really available. Well, I'm going back to LineageOS. [edit #2] Well, someone on the forum did tell me how videos could be played on it. So, I'll stick with it for now.

I am waiting for Debian (or any other desktop Linux) support to be declared on the Cosmo Communicator after it is launched. Though I still don't understand why this Blackberry device from the past has a 1440p display but almost everything nowadays is 1440.
I still blame Apple for selling cruddy phones and Nokia for only selling BlueTooth screens for their phones (in effect) rather than producing a GPRS device. If only Apple hadn't been so lucky to sell to morons and Nokia so moronic to not sell to those wanting mobile data.

Yes, OK, I have obviously picked my sides but I have been approached a few times in social setting with these new devices and the older ones still see interest.

I think it's still possible to flash that to a select choice of devices.

Fingering my recently purchased N900 (and the N9 right beside it) I somehow cannot shake the feeling that you're not seeing the whole picture here.

I was using a similar, Windows, phone around 5 years before that came out (some guesswork and Wikipedia involved). Nokia had a fantastic rpoduct when Windows phones were launching and they squandered it by attempting to make people buy a phone and a tablet and failed.

ondoho, I've been able to find an ancient rom of sailfish, but nothing recent that's actively maintained (at least for my phone, the Nexus 5, aka hammerhead). I dunno. I may try it.

OK, if you're not willing to move away from that then Idk.
Otherwise, it's definitely not dead and possible to use on a few devices (also for free) as the 2 links from my previous post show.
I admit that the whole jolla/sailfish device/os thing is a hot mess and difficult to understand what's going on.

Just the other day I sent a mssage to the customer service team at Planet CompTers asking when the Cosmo Communicator will ship but I've yet to be replied to. i'm interested in what functionality they will have when running Linux if, indeed, they do.

Some users of its predecessor complained that that one's Linux support was somewhat lacking.
Even Sailfish wasn't perfect iirc.
