confirm how to connect tablet to monitor

I want to connect a 10" tablet with USB-2 micro port to a vga monitor (it'll make the new treadmill more "attractive")

Can I use micro-HDMI for this?

I don't have one to test, and that's what I think my search is telling me.

So I just want to confirm before I buy one, cuz I'd have no other use for it.

Converting between VGA (analog) and HDMI (digital) can be complicated, and USB is not the same as HDMI, so that's a minimum of two adapters involved (if it works at all).

There are probably simpler options if you explain more fully what exactly you are trying to achieve and why?

Got an old, unused monitor.
Tablet with decent internet connection.
Now have treadmill for winter.

Serious need to walk due to aggravating sciatica in the old bod'.
Canadian winters getting too cold for the old bod', too.
Want to watch something whilst walking in the warmth.

Thank you -

Don't think this will work - can't find the right combination of adaptors
Most are one-way VGA to HDMI
micro-USB to HDMI are easy, as are HDMI to VGA, but micro-USB to HDMI to VGA runs into serious male-female issues. Looking like 3 adapters at this point and that's just asking for trouble.
Gonna need a different monitor

Why not get a USB to VGA converter? No need to add HDMI to the mix if the monitor is VGA.

@uteck: cuz search engines hate me an I got nothin' like that on multiple searches

it's now moot - I said the monitor was old, and it just bright-screened and went dead - the shock must have been too much

meanwhile, I found an electri-junk store and picked up a micro-USB to HDMI adaptor, which will fit reg monitor or TV

tried 2 tablets and 2 android phones with both and got no joy

seems to me that I'm missing something here

I assume there's a reason you can't just put the tablet where the monitor is/was?

@boughtonp, the tablet screen is useless for actually watching anything, it's too small.I'm at the point where I'm scrapping the idea, anyway. Too much aggravation, like almost everything technical nowadays.
