Android alternative on tablet?

After updating Android from 4.1.2 to 4.4.2 my new year's gift from Samsung or Google(i don't know who made that firmware) was dissapointing. Sure it looks bit better but everything else just asks to revert back to original but original is not so better either by now. Everything is slower and all that. So much for performance boost.

Can Ubuntu or other OS be installed on tablet or it is Android only device? Homepage says it's compatible with tablets but i don't see my device there.

Windows 8 probably also won't work on it?

OK. the processor is a Cortex A9: a ARM processor. There are several distros, which offer isos for ARM processors e.g. ubuntu or debian.

Well honestly, you are best off keeping Android.
I suggest rooting it and removing any bloat to help speed it up.
You can also install a shell and GNU tools once it is rooted. Android IS Linux

I'd go further - lose the Corporate junk atogether. Install a custom ROM, maybe Cyanogenmod, and have a play around.
Bit of a learrning curve, but worth it IMHO. I did a (really) old TF101, and it runs fine on 4.4 - there was no chance of me ever getting that from ASUS.
