Workspaces overview in two halves

Hello people,
Pardon my ignorance but is it normal for the workspaces on Linux mint 17 cinnamon to be like in the screenshot below? There are two halves to each workspace. The desktop applets show up only in the right half and not on the desktop when I zoom into one workspace......
Also, if I suspend the laptop with multiple windows open, when I turn the PC back on I find the windows in the right half on each workspace and I have to drag then over to the left to be able to access them.
Is this how it should be or is it something weird?
Thanks in advance

Thumbs up Solved!

I looked into the displays and saw that there was the desktop display and another unknown display next to it......I disabled the unknown one and that did the trick.
Thanks a million!!
