What is the difference between "Normal" and "Compatibility" Modes

Hi, All,

I've been working with a couple of members on an issue in this thread.

I thought it might be appropriate to ask a question that aroze from t/sing my issue.

What is the difference between Compatibility Mode and "Normal" mode? Moreover, what does it mean if Compatibility mode works on a given laptop, but normal mode hangs after a few minutes.

Thanks!

PS I have Googled this, but haven't discovered an answer to my questions. I hope someone here knows.

The x86 compatible PC needs special code to boot which is stored in an EPROM chip. The original chip is called the Basic Input Output System (BIOS). This has been replaced in modern PCs with UEFI which has advanced features but can be switched back to using the old code by selecting legacy or compatibility mode.

You should be able to find information on BIOS and UEFI.
