Small square appearing in top left corner because of jdownloader, in mint 16 xfce RC

There is a small weird square appearing in the top left corner of the screen when I start jdownloader. WHen I close Jdownloader the square disappears. It happens in linux mint 16 xfce RC. On a asus eeepc 1005pe netbook. The square stays on top off all apps, even fullscreen videos. See attached screenshot

Hi

I gather no other app has same issue?

2) can you post your video hardware such as a snippet from
Code:
lspci -v
b) can you post your /etc/X11/xorg.conf or advise what graphical config you are using

c) have you looked at any XFCE settings especially mouse and video graphics

---yes I know your mouse looks ok in image

2b, I cannot find the xorg.conf file in the location you mentioned. So I dont really know, im kinda newb with this.

2c, there is not really any graphical settings manager.. or you mean my appearance settings? What themes I am using etc. I tried some other themes, but the problem still stays there..

And yes it only happens with Jdownloader

I also thought maybe its a java problem. So I changed from openjdk to oracle java version (newest). But the square is still there. I also uninstalled jdownloader, and installed jdownloader 2 beta, but to no avail..

Make a script with the following:

xfconf-query -c xfwm4 -p /general/use_compositing -t bool -s false

xfconf-query -c xfwm4 -p /general/use_compositing -t bool -s true

Doesn't work. I did this:
- save script with the above lines in script.sh in Downloads
- open terminal, cd Downloads
- chmod +x script.sh
- sh ./script.sh
there was a small flickering of the screen, but when I start jdownloader it still has the square in top left corner, also after reboot.

The idea is to run the script after starting jdownloader. And yes, you'd have to run it *after* every start of jdownloader. The problem seems to be the way the jdownloader status icon deals with the xfce4 compositing manager. The script turns the compositing manager off, then back on. One can disable either the status icon in jdownloader or the compositing manager in xfce4 to avoid the problem. So, three possible workarounds but no true solution.

Ok so it does work if Jdownloader is running and then you run the script. But as soon as I restart jdownloader the square is back. Do you have a permanent fix for this?
