New install: Dell laptop only charges when powered off
Hello, I'm tired of MS shenanigans and decided to try my first Linux install, but I'm having some issues. I have a Dell Precision 5560 laptop that I installed Mint Cinnamon 21.2 on. After going through the process, updates, installing software, etc, I have discovered that the laptop only charges when powered off. I upgraded the kernel to the latest version and tried looking on the forums, but I am not finding an answer. I have tried booting from the USB image and found that the same problem happens.
If I unplug the power and plug it back in, the charging light and the charging indicator on the icon both come on for a few seconds. Then the charging light goes out and a second later the icon shows it is on batter power again. It also drains pretty fast. It went from 88% to 75% in less than an hour. Poking around on the interwebs, I've tried commands that some suggested:
On the terminal I ran: inxi -Bx
Battery:
ID-1: BAT0 charge: 70.5 Wh (83.6%) condition: 84.3/84.3 Wh (100.0%)
volts: 12.0 min: 11.4 model: BYD DELL M59JH15 status: Discharging
I don't know much about this, but if you want some super simple that might help, try to update to kernel 6.6.0. Might do nothing for, you might fix it all. On a dell precision worksation you should be able to compile a kernel pretty quick.

Thanks for the help, however, I used Update Manager to find the newest kernel listed there, and installed that: 6.2.0-36-generic. I am very new to Linux and I don't know anything about how to find another kernel, how to install or compile it, or how to know if it will be ok for my system. I am thinking of trying to go back to an earlier kernel, but update manager doesn't offer that option.
