I am trying to learn all I can about Linux Mint. When I try to determine what /lib/britty and it's files therein, I can't find any information about what it is for. Have searched online extensively to no avail. Using Linux mint 15 now, but was the same issue in Linux Mint 14.
thank you frank. Very astute of you to pick up on by misreading the folder name. Yes, afetr looking closer at it I can see that it IS brltty. Since I have you here, can I just delete that folder. I don't have a use for it. if I delete it will it have a negative effect on the overall installation of LM 15?

Rather than deleting file, in Linux distributions with package management (like Linux Mint) you should instead remove the package. This can be done either in the "Software Centre" (or Synaptic if you have it installed) or on the command line with the command:
Code:
sudo apt-get remove brltty
This ensures that your package management system knows which software you do and do not have installed.
Admittedly, in this case it probably won't do much harm if you were to just delete it (as I don't think much depends upon brltty) but using the package management system is a good habit to get into.
