Question how to upgrade Mint 8 to the new version, by package manager or commands?

How do I upgrade Mint 8 to the newer version, is it with the package manager, or by "sudo apt-get upgrade" command ? Or will it be better to do a fresh install since I have Mint 8 now on a ext3 partition, and 9 or 10 uses ext4 file system?

Try adding the latest Ubuntu and Mint repos manually and then running:

Code:
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Question

Okay thanks, but how do I manually add the newer software repositories to allow upgrade to the newer version?

Or running do-release-upgrade might work (don't know if it's on mint but is on ubuntu by default). Good luck!

Copy the same addresses but replace all the 'karmic's with 'lucid's and the 'Helena's to 'gloria's or whatever.

Thumbs up

Okay thanks for that, I will try one or more of these methods, or install Mint 10 fresh on the same partition as Mint8
