I have been using Linux Mint v.7 for more than a month, and I don't want to go back to xind@x$ anymore. However, sometimes I am having this problem. In fact, I have this very same problem with Ubuntu, Xandros, Mandriva, Mandrzke, Suse as well. I am using wine now and it helps for installing and running a lot.
Back to my problem: I have converted my avi movie to DVD by using ConvertXToDvd software. When the program asked me to insert an blank DVD disk, I did so. The "BURN" button never got highlightened, in other words the software (Also Linux Mint OS-via this software) didn't recognize my blank DVD disk and/or DVD Rom Drive.
I searched internet and came accross with this AVS converter, but it never even started running after I finished the installation.
I will appreciate your valuable helps. Very best regards . . .
well that's not a linux problem, it's wine problem. i tested ConvertXtoDVD before and sometimes it does not recognize the Writer. wind appdb would have better info about the problems related to CovertXtoDVD under wine.
Orada su an kullanmaya calistigim ConvertXToDvd programinin cesitli dagitimlarini gordum, ama bir turlu indirmeyi beceremedim. Bu hususta bir bilgin var mi?

well, it's been while since i last used ConvertXtoDVD, and it was for testing only.
here's short how-to;
use transcode (or ffmpeg, ffmpeg is pretty much used everywhere) to convert the video to DVD mpeg 2 (it's somehow different). ffmpeg has nice documentation about converting (transcode, too).
after getting new converted VOB files with mpeg2 encoding. use something like try one DVD authoring programs from the how-to i linked, choose as you wish.
Thank you very much 4 your reply again. It is also very helpful.
Good news: I solved the problem: I converted the avi into DVD format with the help of Devede. The avi format seems to be .iso format. Then, by using K3b Linux DVD editing program I burned/recorded the .iso file to blank DVD as if I am recording an .iso file by clicking on the "Burn DVD ISO Image" icon on K3b. That's it! You are done.
Yes, it seems like you are converting a divx file into iso format, then burning it as iso file in iso format but at the end it works.
Thanks a lot for your time my friend, have a wonderful day, best regards from Canada . . .

To The Editor/Moderator: I wonder if it is all right to write my e-mail address to Ozanbaba. Thanks . . .

let me clear the misconceptions here. that iso is dvd image, it's used for creatirng dvd or cd complucations. dvds use mpeg 2 in VOB container. divx, xvid are encoder/decoder for mpag 4 part 2.
serdal, you shouldn't really be asking people to email you as that will take the discussion away from the forums. This is bad because the forums are a place where people should be able to find answers to their questions - someone may have the same (or a similar) problem as you, so by leaving stuff here, it can be beneficial.
