Last night, I put in the live cd; my intentions were to review the boot verbiage (I'm thinking that there shouldn't have been any boot verbiage with a live cd, but there has been) to respond here. But lo and behold, it booted just fine. So I proceeded to install, but as always, more or less (please see
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d-line-776978/) the installer came to an input/output error and automatically aborted, leaving a broken system written to disk.
When I check the integrity of the cd, there's one corrupt file. Just one. And, apparently, that one file is what keeps the installation from being successful.
So I have another question. May I use the the live cd remastering tool to delete that one corrupt file? Or is there some way to fix it?
In the meantime, since I first posted this thread, I used a Karmic alternate installation cd to install. It worked perfectly. From there I added Linux Mint repositories; sudo apt-get update && apt-get upgrade, and then selected for installation (in synaptic) everything for Linux Mint except ext2. Presently, that's what I'm using. One problem in no sound. But the live cd with the one corrupt file has sound. I sure wish it would install.
Any suggestions?
