I am looking for the resource to put XP and Fedora 5 on a single hard disk. My research has showed that this is possible as in an article I read by Kurt Voelker. I thought that I could follow his approach for XP and Fedora 2 and apply it to my installation, but have run into some problems. First of all I am doing this on a new Dell E1505 with plenty of hard drive. I burned the most recent iso of RescueCD to be able to resize NTFS. After setting the BIOS to boot from CD it would not boot from the CD but proceeded to load Windows. I feel like the problem might be that Sonic would not allow making it a bootable CD with this iso file, but am not sure. Any resources someone can point me to would be appreciated.
have you tried another cd that you know is bootable to isolate whether it's a problem booting from the drive or whether it's a problem booting from that particular cd?
The way I did was...
I had a copy of PM8 I made the partitions with PM8 for Linux SWAP and ext3 for the logical within windows and That did the trick for me...
XP and Fedora 5 solved! Made disc bootable using a good burner software trial. I adapted an excellent guideline for XP and Fedora 2 to my installation of XP and Fedora 5 on a single hard disk - worked beautifully! If anyone wants this adaptation, email me! Now...Part 2. I am now looking for input to resolve a couple of issues dealing with audio, video, and wireless card compatible drivers for Fedora 5. I have Dell E1505 notebook. Base system audio is integrated Sigmatel Audio (I have Creative Soundblaster Audigy Advanaced MB software too, but it's Win XP compatible); video is ATI Mobility Radeon X1400, 256 MB (1024x768 display resolution); wireless is Dell Wireless 1390 802.11 b/g Mini Card (54 Mbps). Audio and wireless are not recognized at all. Video is only offered at 800x600 display resolution by Fedora. Any solutions?
