Mint 17.3, 18.2, and now 18.3 . Wifi worked fine for last 2 years and now cannot find wireless networks. Looking for more info on trouble shooting network issues.
It's possible the wireless card has failed. That happened to one of my laptops once (six months later, the whole computer failed). If it's a laptop, one test might be to take it a place with public wifi and check whether it works there. If it does, you may have problems with your wireless access point.
Check 'iwconfig' to see if the wireless interface is up. Did you recently change something, like do an upgrade? Try:
Code:
$ lspci | grep -i wireless
to see which networking adapter you have.
Thanks for reply,AwesomeMachine; the adapter is Qualcom Atheros AR242x (PCI-Express). The Ethernet wired does work. I suspect as FrankBell did a possible card failure as the HPg60 is about 12 years old. And yes, I did upgrade from 18.2 to 18.3 but, worked fine for about 3 months then out of the blue....Wm39

Does a wired connection work?
Thanks frankbell for your reply, yes, the wired connection works, and I do suspect the card as failing. the HPG60 laptop is about 12 years old.
Yesterday, did a clean boot 17.3, wireless did not work. Upgraded to 18.3--same result--wired but, no wireless.
Thanks again. Sort of fun exploring Linux issues, learning a lot.wm39
