Where to start seachig for drivers

Hi All, I have just started the transfer over to linux after years, no decades of dos, then windows and a little UNIX. I have started with one of my laptop and i now wish to use my cheap PCMCIA PC-Line 10/100 32 bit cardbus ethernet card model PCL-nw400 but no drives. I will buy another if I must but the question of which one. Any suggestions

Most of the times just searching for the card number & linux will lead to seome relevant information. Most 10/100 cards should work out of the box, you mainly have trouble with wireless cards because many manufacturers do not release drivers or an API.

I use slackware and the command 'cardctl ident' will usually also give some info about the card that can be used in a google search. It may be different on a different distro.

Most likely an entry in /etc/pcmcia/config.opts that binds your card to pcnet_cs will make the card work.
