VAIO VGN-FS742 sound problem

Hi all,
I am new to this forum. I have installed redhat linux enterprise edition in my Sony VAIO VGN-FS742 laptop . Whenever I am trying to go for volume control, it is telling that /dev/mixer not found.

I don't know what could be the problem as I am new to linux. Please help me in this regard.

Thanks in advance,
