Two batteries

I recently bought a second battery fro my laptop (fits in CDrom bay). My laptop is running SuSE 8.2 Pro, is a 4M with 512 ram.

I have ACPI partially working (Lid, thermal) and can monitor both batteries with the AKPI applet.

What is very strange is that once the first battery runs down, it does not switch to the second one - it just dies. The second battery is left with 100% charge. Even stranger is the fact
that I can't even power up again on the second battery.

Any ideas anyone? I'm rather regretting spending the 150 Euros on this new battery.

Oh...the battery is the correct on for this machine...I bought is from the manufacturer.

Rgds, Matt

That's strange, usually this is handled by the BIOS.
It could be caused from ACPI, have you tried with APM?

What PC are you using? bios version?
