touchpad with 2.6.7 on Fujitsu-Siemens laptop not working

hi

got a strange error here.

i have used linux kernel version 2.4.25 and my mouse worked fine. One day i have switched to 2.6.5-wolk still my mouse works fine. but now i would like to use 2.6.7 and so i started compiling a new kernel with:

make oldconfig config_from_2.6.5-wolk

afterwards got no more mouse support

i have also tried

make oldconfig config_from_2.4.25

and still the same result

I am not sure if my mouse is attached internally attached via usb.

I have tried comparing the config from 2.6.5-wolk and 2.6.7 and just couldn't found any differences.

Any hints on this would be greatly appreciated, just going isane....

I also got something like that, but my touchpad still works, just differently.
what I should do in your situation, I try to run the livecd knoppix which has very good hardware support.
Look if it works and look what is different with your config.

The livecd doesn't harm your system.
