Toshiba Function Keys

I have a Toshiba Satellite M45-S265 laptop running Ubuntu 8.04, and I cannot get the function keys or the multimedia keys to work either. Has anyone got them to work. At this point I am more concerned about my display because its to bright and I need to adjust it. Thanks.

Thanks for the response. I have checked those sites, however the one site does not have my model listed. The other had it listed, and it was deemed that the program fnfx did not appear to work. What does not make sense is that F1- F12 work as stand lone keys of in conjunction with a key command combination. Th other thing that is strange is the only key that does function right is the switch to external monitor. I really just want o get my monitors brightness down. It would be nice to be able to get the multimedia keys to work as well. I hope that I can find some more help. Thanks again for the help thus far.
