Unhappy synce on debian amd64


Hi there after searching site after site I cant find any help with setting up synce on my laptop which is running debian 2.6.8 amd64. I am not sure whether its a problem with it being on an amd64 machine or what as I am quite the newbie. Please if possbile could someone send me a link or a step by step guide on this.
