SuSE 9.0 Desktop loading

Hey guys, I have a HP ze4420us. with a 15" display. I currently had SuSE 9.0 installed and working fine. I was messing around trying to learn Linux and tried logging in, under a different desktop. It took me to another Desktop that I didn't like so I went back into the KDE desktop that was now a split screen that was all messed up. I rebooted. Now after Linux has booted, the screen will flash 4 times, then will ask me to log in, almost like a DOS screen with color. I will enter root and root password and then I'll type KDE to try and load the desktop but it says that it cannot load it. When it was working fine, when the booting would get to linux login: KDE would just automatically load. I don't know how to get into the desktop anymore or even if I can, anyhelp would be appreciated.

Check BIOS settings

I had a similar issue with a desktop, and nothing I could do using the xf86Config fixed it. What fixed it for me, was I went into the bios settings for the desktop, and under Video, I changed the Shared System Memory to 8192K. It was set to 1024K. My initial problem was that I couldn't get a 1024 x 768 desktop to begin with. It's hard to imagine, because the video card is an ATI Radeon 7000, and has an Intel 845G chipset.
I have a copy of the XF86Config file created by SuSE after a fresh Installation. Email, if you are interested.
