Suitable iPAQ for UMTS and GPSdrive
Hi -
Could anyone give any pointers as to the most suitable iPAQ to buy, to use for the following (already set up and working with Gentoo on a laptop):
Internet connection with Vodafone 3G data card (PCMCIA, but also works with the SIM card in a 3G phone. The PCMCIA to USB adapter for this 32bit card is £100, so a phone seems a better option)
GPSdrive with a PL2303 USB GPS dongle
X server, etc, to connect to work servers using VNC (via SSH) . Email & web client.
Decent data storage - upgradeable memory to 1 GB or so.
Toys (media player, games etc) would be nice to keep the kids amused when travelling.
I've Googled for the specs and info, but the Linux info seems to cover the older models, not the current ones, so I'm not sure which iPAQ models will run Familiar, which kernel I can use with Familiar, (using 2.6.14 on Gentoo, and would like to run something up-to-date on the PDA) and which apps I will realistically be able to run on what speed processor.
Doesn't have to be an iPAQ, but as it's officially supported it seems to be the most obvious choice ... ??
Any info would be much appreciated,
