I just moved from FC2 to Suse 9.1 pro using KDE and when installing the system doesn't detect the monitor and therefore all the settings are at their basic levels. When I configure it to 1024X768 using SaX2 and restart the system all I get is a black screen once the system has reloaded.

I have an intel i815 and i810 family chipset. Also I ran into the same problem when trying to install FC3.

I've researched intel and found that you need XFree86 3.6.x and I am using XFree86 4.3.99.902 so I'm not sure what the problem has been.

Note: FC2 worked fine and so I used that for about 2 months after finally getting it to work.

Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

For anyone's general knowledge and the possibility that a new user has this model or at least a Sony or same chip set family.

The problem was the resolution default setting of 16bit which I changed to 15 bit with 1024X768 LCD monitor setting. It works fine now.
