linux on old-world 1400cs

Which linux distro would be best for the powerbook 1400 cs 166? More to the point, which one will install using only a floppy disk or disks? is there a boot-floppy anywhere that i can use to trigger an install over the internet? And can i write the floppies from windows xp? Im a student on a low income, so i cant buy any new machines, and this is my only option for a useful laptop.

Probably NetBSD, Debian or Yellow Dog Linux (YDL). If none of that works maybe this "Impractical HOWTO's: NetBSD on a Macintosh Powerbook 160" could give you idea's, but that's really a last resort option IMHO and only for ancient Macs.

well, i would giv debian a try. there is the net-install option. simply download the 2 floppy images and let them boot up and download the rest of the system directly from the internet. neat eh?
