PCMCIA card with PPC?

Ok I have a G3 powerbook laptop which currently has OS9 on it. I'd like to put a PPC version of linux (such as yellow dog) on it, but only if it's compatible with my Linksys WPC11 wireless card. I know the card is not compatible with any macintoshs but i know it is compatible with linux. is the mac compatibility issue only about operating system or is it really about the hardware?

thanks
