whenever i try to install slackware (10.1 or 9.) on my hp pavillion ze4400 laptop my cursor gets stuck at the prompt where it ask me to "press enter to change the keyboard settting". I can't even get any key to work.
I have a pavilllion desktop, which has a keyboard via serial port and slackware works fine. I find this really annoying and was wondering if anyone has encountered the problem as well, and knows how to circumvent it.
I've tried to install vector linux and that seems to work fine, and sevreal flavours of bsd as well. but slackware is a no - go, anyone know what the deal is?

Only thing I can think of would be trying a different kernel when you boot up the install cd.
