OSS setup on an Asus laptop

Hi all,

my setup is:

- Laptop Asus A6VA-series
- Distro SuSE10.2

I installed OSS, and it is loaded and, say, is working.

What I cannot really get through is its output setup. Blame on me, but... I'm not able to enable the head-phone output! If I plug the jack in, the laptop phones become quite (as it is supposed to be), but there is no sound coming from the free-standing phones.

I've launched the ossxmix and played with it, but I connot even identify which colour the head-phone output matches to...

Can anybody give suggestions?

Thanks

Starting with the obvious, have you checked that the headphones work?

Is it a hardware failure with the laptop 3.5mm jack?

If OSSMix is working, producing sound through the laptop speakers which stops when you plug in, then it looks like a headphones/jackplug issue, not software.

No, for sure no HW failure, since the output works when I use Windows.

Good, hardware has been ruled out. Have you tried changing the mixer? There are many out there, I use ALSA as it has good hardware compatability.
